Tucked into the corner of the coffee shop with his array of pedals and effects and pork pie hat Howlin Matt works his way casually throughan array of classics and lesser known tunes, each with a story of their own which he is keen to share. He certainly adds another flavour to your post work brew.

Meanwhile across town a local team know as Ont’ Sofa have launched their Friday night live show at the Lux Lure Bar.

Each week featuring artists who have recorded videos for Ont’ Sofa. Most recently it was the turn of superb Leeds singer songwriter Rupert Stroud. Complete with backing band Rupert worked his way through an impressive set of his own material including singles Twisted Games and No Peace of Mind along with his charity single for the Alzheimer’s Society titled Always.

Rupert has a great show, and a strong following, an excellent young performer with music well worth listening to more than once.

Increasingly there are new venues opening their doors to live music in Harrogate, bars such as Christie’s, Rehab, Monteys, The Alex and the legendary Blues Bar all providing opportunities for the public and local musicians to get together be it over coffee or a pint and enjoy live music.
