WHITE Rose Festivals has announced the lead artists and playlists for the shows at this year’s White Rose Winter Music Festival at Harewood House from November 17-19.
Festival director, Emma Ramply said: “The inaugural 2010 festival at Ripley Castle went better than we could have possibly imagined attracting over 2,500 people, despite the extreme snowy conditions early last December.
The 2011 festival programme has been put together and directed by Harrogate-based Music Director Anna Cunningham of Ultimate Voice.
This year’s festival features the best musical talent from Yorkshire in selecting, including both professional artists, as well as our two young budding stars, Emma Hart and Ravi Patel, who won othe Yorkshire’s Got Young Talent competition.
The festival opens on the Thursday night with A Night at the Opera where the Yorkshire’s Got Young Talent winners, Emma Hart and Ravi Patel, will be debuting alongside Yorkshire born professional opera singers; Hannah Mason, Joanne Dexter, Nick Sales and John Cunningham who all have a wealth of experience performing title roles for Opera North, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, English Touring Opera and have performed all over the world.
A Night at the Opera presents a selection of the finest and most loved arias from the world’s greatest operas including; Carmen, Rigoletto, Madame Butterfly, Aida, La boheme and many more, accompanied by the Northern Camerata Orchestra.
The Friday night heats up with A Night in the West End, everyone’s favourite hits from the Musicals combined in an exhilarating programme, which will transport the audience to the lights of London’s West End. Songs from Les Miserables, My Fair Lady, Joseph, Phantom of the Opera, Chess, Mama Mia, the Sound of Music, performed by West End stars, Alison Guill, Lisa Thorner, Daniel Meades and Kris Manuel, accompanied by the Northern Camerata Orchestra.
A Night at the Proms on the Saturday night provides a raptuous finale to the festival where audience members will be waving union jacks to an intoxicating programme of British classics featuring; Pomp and Circumstance, Nimrod, Jerusalem amongst many more patriotic favourites, led by acclaimed soprano Claire Ormshaw and tenor Nick Sales, accompanied by the Northern Camerata Orchestra.
The Northern Camerata Orchestra will be led by Huddersfield born conductor Ben Crick, who is also principal guest conductor of the English National Philharmonic Orchestra.
