HARROGATE’S local success story, Rock Up and Sing! are staging a high profile return to the Royal Hall on Sunday, November 13 in a concert to support Parkinsons UK.

After their sell out success at the prestigious venue last year, and their more recent musical extravaganza with 300 voices singing to packed audiences at the Yorkshire Event Centre in June, Rock Up and Sing! are now hoping to repeat their success with future events.

The choir’s busy schedule also sees them hotfooting it en masse to Abbey Road Studios in London for an exciting recording session.

Launched in May 2009 Rock Up and Sing!, led by dynamic Musical Director Rhiannon Gayle, has been a remarkable success story in difficult times, attracting more and more members to rehearsal.

The feel-good element expe rienced by singing irresistible songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Africa, J’ai Ho and Sister Act, amongst many others – along with the rationale that no one has to be able to read music or audition to join – clearly attracts huge interest from people from all walks of life.

The choir boasts several family groups and ages range from teenagers to grandparents.

The success of the Rock Up and Sing!’s two day event at the Yorkshire Event Centre in June was welcomed,

Rhiannon said: “It was an ambitious plan bringing together for the first time members of all four Rock Up choirs, 300 voices, but the enthusiasm, hardwork and sheer sense of fun of the choir members made it all worthwhile. The icing on the cake was to be able to raise funds for the charity, Candlelighters”.

The choir’s press spokesperson, Jane Finnegan said: “We were recently approached by Parkinsons UK and asked to stage a concert in support of them. We very much hope that we can do them proud”.
