I’m looking forward to being a judge at Easter Sunday’s grand final of Rehab’s Battle of the Bands.
It’s partly because I get the chance to chew the fat with top man DJ Trev of Bottom of the Bottle fame but it’s also because I get to catch four bands I’m normally too busy to see.
I’m disappointed one of my favourite local groups, the raucous blues-rock duo Hell Fire Jack didn’t quite make it through their semi-final – and the same fate befell acoustic duo Meth Candy, as did Adam Westerman’s alt-acoustic Oscillantern who I also like.
There’s no doubting the quality of the four bands who will be lining up this Sunday night from 7.30pm. Fighting it out for the top prize in this Harrogate bar-nightclub will be the following: The Shades (glitzy rock n roll six-piece who were in the AMP Awards final). Pips (funk-rock three-piece). Set Sails (glorious grungey rock). Humble Scoundrel (old skool bluesy rock)
The winning act will receive a £500 cash prize plus lots of goodies from sponsors such as Westminster Salon Harrogate, Sudo Attire Menswear and more.
Sunday night’s final is followed by DJ Trev’s monthly Bottom of the Bottle night, the last one before he bravely goes weekly.
