THE audience attending the forthcoming Unsung Heroes concert by the Bands of the Royal Air Force at Harrogate International Centre on Sunday, November 6, will be invited to sign a special Book of Remembrance for their friends, family and comrades who served in the RAF.

At the end of the concert tour in December, the Book of Remembrance will be kept at St Clement Danes Church in London, the spiritual home of the Royal Air Force.

Concert organiser Philippa Hayday-Brown said: “We felt a special Book of Remembrance would be a fitting extension of the concert, enabling audience members to record the names of those who have made a significant impression on their lives and in whose eyes they are ‘heroes’. We’re delighted that St Clement Danes has agreed to provide a home for the book after the concert tour.”

St Clement Danes Resident Chaplain, The Reverend David Osborn, said: “We have many thousands of visitors to the RAF church; some come out of curiosity but quite a few come on pilgrimage to see the name of their loved ones in the Books of Remembrance.”

The concert will feature the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment, the Band of the Royal Air Force College plus Swing Wing.

The programme of music will be compered by BBC Radio 2 broadcaster Alan Dedicoat and will feature soloists Flight Lieutenant Matthew Little and Joanne Pullen. It will be conducted by Wing Commander Duncan Stubbs, the RAF’s Principal Director of Music.

The performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available costing £15.50, £18.50 and £21.50 at www.harrogateboxoffice.co.uk
