SING your heart out is the invitation from Harrogate Choral Society to anyone who has always fancied having a go at choral singing but has been afraid to try it out.
HCS are hosting an open rehearsal starting at 7.30pm next Wednesday, September 7 at the Parish Centre attached to Harrogate’s Christ Church - and everyone is welcome to come along.
Chairman Tony Latter said: “You don’t have to have any previous choral experience, nor even the ability to read music, we are a very friendly society who all just enjoy singing.”
The same event a year ago was so successful that 22 new members joined the choir which is now one of the largest in the Yorkshire area.
All guests will be greeted by one of the voice representatives and introduced to a few people in the most suitable voice part.
Sandy Fryer said: “This meant I felt neither overwhelmed nor left out. The friendship has continued throughout the season and I now know a lot more people as well as enjoying the music.”
Harrogate Choral Society has been established for 63 years and performs a wide range of works. The next concert will be in The Royal Hall at 7.30pm on November 12 in which the choir will sing Mozart’s Requiem plus some other works by Mozart and will be joined by internationally-renowned violinist Nicola Benedetti who will perform Mozart’s Violin Concerto No 5.
l Tickets for the concert are available from the Harrogate Theatre Box Office, Tel 01423 502116. For more information about Harrogate Choral Society visit www.harrogatechoral.org.uk or just come along to the Open Rehearsal.
