Free tickets for under 16s at annual concert

They will be in concert with the Harrogate Gilbert and Sullivan Society at the Royal Hall on at the Royal Hall next month.

Following their high quality showing at the British Open Brass championships, the band has linked up with TV Choirmaster Gareth Malone on his new Christmas album which is due out next week.

The new album, A very British Christmas is a collaboration of artists from across the UK. The Brighouse and Rastrick Band will feature on the track Paradise Street accompanying Kaiser Chiefs front man Ricky Wilson and Gareth’s own choir, Voices.

“Working with Gareth was a fantastic experience,” said the band’s professional conductor Professor David King.

The Band will no doubt be crossing their fingers that Gareth’s track record of Christmas chart success will ensure that brass bands have their place in the public eye this Christmas.

Once again they team up with the Harrogate Gilbert and Sullivan Society chorus for the much-loved traditional Christmas Concert with two performances at the Royal Hall on Saturday December 17th – the 2.30pm matinee and the 7.30pm evening performance.

There is a real family feel to the Royal Hall Christmas Concerts this year – the audience will be get a chance to join with the choir and band in two rousing Christmas carols – and, as a special offer, tickets are free for accompanied children under 16.

The Brighouse and Rastrick Band is regarded by many as the best and most consistent ‘public subscription band’ in the world. In its time the majority of premier band championships have been held by ‘Briggus’ while the band has also attracted a formidable reputation for highly entertaining concerts for both the general 
public and brass band connoisseur.

In this year’s British Open championship in October they were narrowly pipped into second place by the Cory Band from Wales but placed ahead of the main northern rivals, the Black Dyke Mills (3rd ) and the Grimethorpe Colliery Band (5th).

The band still continues to be supported through public subscriptions and its own fund raising efforts. Its players are regarded as one of the ‘elite’ on the contest and concert platforms and this year’s Christmas concert promises to be a dazzling tour de force of popular Christmas favourites and some new additions.
