Harrogate International Festival’s summer programme comes to a climatic end this Saturday with its very own Harrogate Festival Orchestra.
Just shy of its 50th anniversary, Harrogate International Festival has revived the Harrogate Festival Orchestra, which played at the first ever Festival in 1966. It brings together the best national and international talent under the baton of Ben Crick.
Ben, who was educated in Manchester and Leeds University, has just finished a year as BBC music fellow.
Ben is in awe of the Festival’s 50 year legacy. It famously gave the likes of Julian Lloyd Webber and Lesley Garret a platform before they found fame.
He said: “It’s fantastic, giving that much work to artists and to a community is great and it’s still going strong and growing, long may that continue.”
The Harrogate Festival Orchestra stars international cellist, Raphael Wallfisch.
The Harrogate Festival Orchestra performs at the Royal Hall in Harrogate Saturday, July 26 at 8pm.
