The organisers of this year’s Bedale’s Acoustic Music Festival - BAMfest - have announced details of their 2014 songwriting competition.

The competition, which was launched last year as part of the first-ever BAMfest, was a huge success first time round, with entries from songwriters young and old.

The competition was won by David Swann from Pickering with his song Woven Through Herringbone.

David was presented with The Harvey Blogg Cup, in memory of Harvey, who was a source of inspiration and encouragement to many local musicians in the Bedale area. There was also a £50 cash prize.

Organiser John Knighton said: “We are delighted that award-winning singer/songwriter Henry Priestman of The Christians has once again agreed to be one our judges.

“One of last year’s entrants, Gina McCann, came second. She was only 14-years-old. This year she is appearing as part of the main festival.”

All songs must be singer’s original work and unrecorded. Entries can be sent to info@bamfest.co.uk by 5pm on Saturday, May 31.
