Calling talented youngsters! As part of this year’s 2013 CLASSICFest is to feature an amateur youth production of Phantom of the Opera to be presented at the Harrogate Theatre.

CLASSICFest, the UK’s most comprehensive celebration of opera, operetta and musical theatre, is one of the first organisations to be awarded a licence to perform the show. It is now looking for young amateur performers aged between 14 and 21 years.

Auditions for the show, which will run from Thursday, August 29 to Friday, August 30, will take place in the ballroom of The Majestic Hotel in Harrogate on Saturday June 8.

The show will be directed by Ian Milford, the awardwinning director of the phenomenally successful Fusion Theatre from Belfast.

This year’s CLASSICFest, the second annual one of its type in Harrogate, will take place mainly at the Royal Hall and Harrogate Theatre.

The packed programme will include Lehar’s delightful Merry Widow, La Boheme, Princess Ida, The Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe, Fiddler on the Roof, Evita, Guys and Dolls and more.

Rehearsals for the amateur youth production of Phantom of the Opera will start in Harrogate on Monday, August 19 through to the performances.
