AN ambitious teenage indie band from Ripon have just launched an impressive video which throws into sharp focus the amount of young talent in the Harrogate district.

The five-piece Purple Mafia, who are aged 14 to 15 and go to Ripon Grammar School, recorded the single She Thinks It with engineer James Mottershead who hails from Harrogate.

The accompanying video was produced locally by another talented Harrogate youngster, film director Ben Derrick.

Purple Mafia are made up of Josh Stockdale (lead guitar), Dan Reynard (singer), Tom Stringer (bass), Harry Yates (rhythm guitar) and Toby Hussey, drums. The band have been playing together for just over two years in which time they have won several competitions including Sound of the Town and Ripon’s Got Talent and played shows as far afield as York and Newcastle.

Purple Mafia have also featured on BBC Radio York and Stray FM for interviews and song plays and have built up nearly 2,000 fans on Facebook where the video has just been launched.
