The Spiegeltent is Back! Harrogate International Festivals is bringing the magic of the mirrored tent once more to Crescent Gardens with a smorgasbord of live music and family events with food and bars open daily between May 29 and June 7.

Headline acts under the exquisitely exotic canvas include the explosive Gypsy Queens and the draw-dropping House of Burlesque.

Festival chief executive Sharon Canavar said: “It’s one of the most stunning pop-up venues in the world and there’s only a handful in existence today. It’s quite a sight to behold with wooden floors, mirrored walls, stained glass, luscious red velvet seating booths and lamped lighting, complete with dancefloor and bottle bar. It’s perfect for live music and cabaret in a relaxed environment.”

Its annual appearance has taken on legendary proportions. This year, the Festival has a guest curator, Gabby Young, to curate the Spiegel acts Django, Kitten & the Hip, and her own band, Gabby Young & Other Animals.

Gabby said: “The bands I have chosen are all incredible musicians and know how to put on a show so get ready to get dressed up, dance, clap, stomp and sing along - this is a real chance to let your hair down no matter who you are or what age - there’s something for everyone!”

Harrogate Festival’s headline act Bellowhead, who play the Royal Hall onJuly 11, will also be curating a Young Musicians series showcasing the Next Big Things in Folk music. Bellowhead is widely acknowledged as the best act to see live in the country, winning a record five Best Live Group BBC Folk Awards.

Sharon added: “The Young Musician series is a completely free lunchtime series of concerts so it’s a great way to come down and experience the magic of the Spiegeltent.”

The Gypsy Queens, known for intimate gigs at private parties, with the likes of Elton John and Rod Stewart in the audience are back after a sell-out performance last year.

House of Burlesque will be previewing their London show in Harrogate, celebrating decadence and glamour with host Miss Tempest Rose, followed by a Silent Disco.

Other confirmed acts include leading British jazz bassist Gary Crosby with his band, Groundation. The Firm of Poets will also do a set with soundscapes provided by The Housekeeping Society.

The final gig will be Nubiyan Twist - a 10 piece outfit fusing groove driven music from around the world.

With limited capacity in the pop-up venue, audiences are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
