Have your say

The weather was kind for once and brilliant sunshine shone over the annual Knaresborough Pets Day which was held at Knaresborough House on Bank Holiday Monday.

The event was well attended by furry animals and canine companions. The crowds enjoyed a busy day of events thanks to organisers Harrogate Road Safety Dog Training Club.

The novelty dog show, judged by members of The Dogs Trust, attracted eager entrants in the grounds of Knaresborough House whilst in the house a good selection in the caged animals competition were judged by staff from Ashleigh Veterinary Surgery.

Harrogate Road Safety Dog Training Club performed a fine display of obedience with a comic twist and there was mini agility and sausage retrieve to amuse the dogs. Charity stalls included Guide Dogs, Hearing Dogs, EARS (Emergency Animal Rescue Support), Pets as Therapy, The Retired Greyhound Trust, Moor View Dog Rescue, Leeds Cat Rescue and English Springer Spaniel Rescue.

Blue Cross also provided a micro-chipping session.

Delicious food was served inside the House tempting everyone to enjoy some home baking.

The organisers would like to thank the sponsors The Barking Lot for the dog show and Forest Feeds for the caged animals, and have also thanked the numerous charities and stall holders who attended and members of the public with their well behaved pets who all made the day enjoyable and worthwhile. Special thanks go to Ron Lowe the brilliant compere.
