Featuring more than 40 beers, ciders, lagers and wines from a range of producers across North Yorkshire and beyond, the event will support Saint Michael’s Hospice, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Martin House, and Carers’ Resource and Disability Action Yorkshire in their work.

Chairman of the festival James Pickard said: “The festival is a great event and the funds raised are simply staggering.

“My thanks go to all supporters, especially our generous sponsors and volunteers. It is down to all involved that the festival is the Harrogate institution it has become.”

“The weekend was a tremendous success. We are yet to calculate our final total, but with about 5,000 visitors we are expecting a new fundraising record. We have certainly got a lot to live up to in 2015.”

Special thanks were given to festival organiser Daffyd Pritchard, who is celebrating his last year with the Beer Festival and was awarded with a commemorative tankard.

Mr Pickard said: “Daleside Brewery’s Dave Pritchard has been an integral part of the evolution of the event. He helps us in his own time and deserves much recognition and thanks as a key contributor.”

The festival also saw the official launch of a special beer commemorating the 2014 Grand Départ.

The team behind Pedal Power, originated by the Coach and Horses pub, also held a raffle for Martin House.

Mr Pickard said: “They secured a lovely racing bike plus many other fantastic prizes for us to raffle off, raising a whopping £3507.66 for Martin House.
