A WELL-known face on the Yorkshire performance poetry circuit is the special guest for next Wednesday’s festive edition of Poems, Prose & Pints.
This popular Harrogate literary group’s monthly night of open mic spoken word at Harrogate’s Tap n Spile pub, will feature a set by Tim Ellis.
Tim has enjoyed an eventful 18 months since he last guested at Poems, Prose & Pints.
Last summer he took Harrogate Theatre Around the World in Three Minutes with a manic performance at the first ever Big T Talent Contest.
In a single week earlier this year he scooped both the first prize in the Huddersfield Literature Festival Competition and was crowned York Poetry Slam Champion 2011.
Not long after, he was featured on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, acting like a crazy man.
His second collection, Gringo on the Chickenbus was published by Stairwell Books in July, and has been listed as one of the 20 best small press poetry collections of the year by Purple Patch magazine.
He later performed part of the collection outdoors for Harrogate International Festival Fringe as part of the psychogeographic trip Across The Town event.
The question must be asked: what will he be doing at the Tap & Spile this Yuletide?
Will he be incanting studiously scansioned prize-winning sonnets, or will he be leaping about the pub impersonating a Howler Monkey whilst banging dementedly on a drum?
Or maybe a little bit of each and something new as well…?
Entry costs £2.50 reduced to £2 if you get up and read in the open mic.
