Organisers of this year’s Norwood Show are adopting an Olympic theme for the popular annual family event.
It takes place at Norwood Social Hall, Bland Hill, on Saturday, September 8, from noon.
Among the sporting-themed classes for children aged 16-and-under will be entries for decorated sports shoes and hand-made Olympic torches. Other classes for children include making a floating flowerbed, and for adults there will be classes in baking, photography, and homemade alcoholic brews.
Andrea Barker, a member of the organising committee, said: “It’s a great family day and a very traditional show providing fun for all the family.”
Entries for classes will be accepted on the day or can be made in advance, with judging starting at 1.30pm.
Other events on the day will include a pet show for children aged 16-and-under at 1.15pm with different classes available depending on the type of pet.
At 2pm, the show’s sporting events begin when there will be traditional athletic events like running as well as more fun activities such as three-legged racing and wellie-throwing.
Other attractions include stalls selling various items, plus face-painting, a tombola, and raffle. After judging results are announced at 4pm, there will be a family barbecue and rounders match.
