With just two months to go until the big weekend, the creative team is already busy preparing the site for what promises to be a magical festival experience.

Visitors can expect visual treats and a friendly welcome, as organiser Allan Smyth said: “The Dragongate Team brings together lots of talented local people who’ve spent many summers working in creative roles at bigger, more commercial festivals further afield.

“Dragongate is about bringing these skills back home and creating something really special for Harrogate. In this Jubilee year, we think people will appreciate some quality, affordable entertainment, with home grown flavour and a magical atmosphere, without having to travel too far to find it.”

It’s not just the music that looks set to enchant Dragongate’s festival-goers.

The Magic Dragon Kid’s Space has a packed line up of mystical family fun. With Arthur’s Knights of the Round Table as its theme, there’ll be Tall Tales from the Flamborough Trolls, Professor Grunamunch’s Punch and Judy, a dance competition (with celebrity judges and a prize) and a full programme of theatre, arts, crafts and story telling under the Faraway Tree, all of them for free.

There’s even a pool table and table football in The Pyramid, Poems Prose and Pints, stalls, PizzaLoco, comedy with Rob Alexander and the popular Rock Up and Sing! choir in action.

Circus Skills Workshops for all abilities will be run by Butterfingers’ talented team - including a fire juggling workshop for anyone brave enough and a spectacular fire show on Saturday night.

And there’s always the opportunity to relax and unwind in the Healing Garden, run by Cherry Blossoms Holistic Healthcare, or in the Copper Dragon Bar, serving Yorkshire ales.

Local businesses have also got on board the Dragongate train. The final piece of the puzzle fell into place when Wetherby based company Trufflehunters stepped in to provide a quality hog hoast.

Also hitching their steam train to the Dragongate convoy also PizzaLoco from Kirby Malzeard (www.pizzaloco.co.uk) who make delicious wood-fired pizzas in an unusual oven.

Cherry Blossoms Holistic Healthcare from Skipton are co-ordinating the healing area, Bob the Coffee Man from Harrogate and Convenience Hire from Keighley.

Matt from Dragondrop of Harrogate is part of the team and has designed the website and promotional material.

Also part of the experienced festival team is Alex from Harrogate based Magic Muse who will be supplying the beautiful marquees for the large kids’ space.
