Knaresborough RUFC celebrated an immediate return to Yorkshire Four after securing promotion on the final day of the season.
Boro thrashed Rotherham Clifton 45-8 at Hay-A-Way Park to stave off Stanley Rodillians’ persisting challenge and go up.
Stephen Morris opened the try-scoring for the home side and Jamie Bird and Sean Whitlow were also on the score-sheet as Boro raced into a 30-0 lead at half-time.
But, despite their dominance, ill-discipline twice saw the Gold and Blues go down to 14 men in the opening period.
Not long into the second half, Rotherham took a drop goal opportunity to stop the whitewash before a further attack warranted an unconverted try.
Boro’s penalty county continued to restrict their scoring, but three more tries from William Stevenson and Sam Keen sealed promotion joy.
Club spokesman Garry Gilmore said: “Great thanks for this promotion have to go the club coach Adam Pike with his able helpers Kevin Brooke and Andy King.
“It’s been a real club effort all round.”
