RIPON finished empty-handed on Saturday, after falling 10-15 at home to Skipton.
They will try again tomorrow, when they journey to Wath Upon Dearne in their next encounter.
Fortunately for Ripon, after tomorrow they have just three games left.
They are still 14 points clear of second-bottom Moortown, so should see out the season without a relegation battle
Without a Yorkshire Two win since the beginning of January Ripon were hoping to take advantage of fellow strugglers Skipton at Mallorie Park on Saturday.
But this was not to be, as a poor display littered with basic errors allowed their spirited opponents to leave with the winning points.
Skipton opened the scoring after eight minutes with a penalty then a calamitous mix up on the Ripon line gifted them with the simplest of tries.
With a half time score of 8-0, the hosts had plenty to do and spent most of the second period in the visitors’ half of the field.
The pressure eventually paid off when Sadler was driven over the line for a try with McAra converting to bring Ripon within a single point.
Within minutes all the previous good work was undone as Ripon tried to run the ball out of their own 22, but were turned over and another try was gifted to the opposition.
Another McAra penalty on 26 minutes kept Ripon in touch and again most of the play was taking place in the Skipton half of the field.
As full time approached the Ripon forwards were in full control in the set pieces and the pressure was beginning to tell on the Skipton pack.
Several scrummages close to the Skipton line almost resulted in pushover tries and it was only a bizarre decision by the referee that denied Ripon a penalty try as the opposing front row were unable to cope.
So once again a win was snatched away in the dying moments of a game, although it would have been a rather fortuitous victory against a more lively Skipton side.
