Claro Road played host to another hugely popular Harrogate Junior Rugby Festival, the busiest yet according to organisers.
Across two days, Harrogate Rugby Club welcomed a turnout of 4,000, including players, spectators and volunteers, to the County Ground.
The event, sponsored by CNG for the sixth consecutive year, saw 1,200 players, aged between seven and 15, from 88 teams participate in a weekend of action-packed rugby.
This year’s event enjoyed an unusually high level of competition and winning teams included Sandback in the U-9s, Harrogate in the U-10s and U-14s, Wilmslow U-11s, Wetherby U-12s and Whitley Bay in the U-13s.
Old Rishworthians won the U-15s.
All players in the U-7s and U-8s teams received medals.
In addition to local teams, several touring teams travelled to take place in the event including players from as far as Scotland, Wilmslow and Sheffield.
Jacqui Hall, Managing Director of CNG said: “We are delighted to have been lead sponsor at this fabulous event for yet another year.
“The Junior Rugby Festival is a favourite in our community partnership calendar and we are constantly impressed by the standard of talent shown during the event.”
Clive Wright Commercial Chairman and Festival Manger for HRUFC added: “This year has been a huge success.
“We have had more touring teams than ever, synonymous with our growing reputation as one of the biggest junior rugby events in the North.
“Our thanks to CNG for being lead sponsor for the sixth year running, not to mention the volunteers who combined have made it all possible.”
