HARROGATE endured a second defeat on the spin on Saturday, but could take heart from a much-improved performance at Westoe.
The National Two North contest, saw leaders Westoe win 29-10.
Playing on an artificial pitch, Westoe crossed over for the opener before Harry Hannon set up Pete Lucock for a try in the corner.
Flanker Tim Heaton then barged over for another try to put ‘Gate ahead.
Westoe seized the advantage with a converted try to lead 12-10 at the break as Harrogate looked to keep up their momentum.
However a change of prop via a half-time Harrogate substitution saw Westoe able to press their advantage, as Harrogate lost an important source of quality ball.
Two more converted Westoe tries plus a late penalty secured a comfortable result for the hosts.
