Gold medal haul at Nationals for Shotokan club students

Harrogate Shotokan and Boston Spa Shotokan Karate Clubs have had a fantastic start to the 2014 competitive season.

Twenty-two club members took part in the JKS England Squad tournament.

This competition saw all JKS England Squad members compete against each other to become JKS England National Squad Champion.

The Kids Kata event saw Oliver Deane take the silver medal.

Emelye O’Brien took the gold for the second year running in the Girls Kumite with Kate Lister claiming bronze.

The Boys Kumite saw last year’s runner up Oliver Deane win gold and David Lister collect the bronze.

James Brown earned an impressive silver in the Adults Kata.

JKS England Team Captain Ashley Scott triumphed with gold in the Female Kumite. Melissa Finlay and Emleye O’Brien shared the joint bronze.

The Male Kumite gold was wonby Joe Hart who was on excellent form, winning a majority of his bouts with fast head kicks.

The Harrogate Club trains at Harrogate High School and the Boston Spa club trains at Boston Spa School.
