harrogate U-10s held their nerve to claim the North of England Championships in Leeds on Sunday.

The Ainsty Road side only a week earlier secured the Yorkshire title which propelled them into the north of England tournament.

They first had to navigate their past and beat Ben Rhydding, Thirsk, Wakefield and Alderley Edge in the round robin.

Having made it past that stage, Harrogate went on to win a nail-biting penalty shoot out against Alderley Edge in the semi-final with goalkeeper Tom Peakman saving the day with several fine saves.

Harrogate faced local rivals Ben Rhydding in the final in a repeat of the Yorkshire final but they stormed to a convincing 3-0 victory with goals from Thom Nash (2) and player of the tournament Charlie Willis.

Making her debut with the squad was Jess Dunmore who played some great hockey and was more than a match for the opposition.
