Harrogate triathlete Mika Brown was crowned national men’s U-20s sprint triathlon champion on Sunday, at the Nottingham triathlon.
The fiercely competitive event doubles as the British Triathlon National Sprint Championships and a qualification event for the World Triathlon Grand Final London in Hyde Park.
Racing over a 750m swim, 20km lake-side flat bike ride and 5km run, competitors, first year Loughborough University student Mika won the Male 16-19 event, and has qualified to compete for September’s Team GB at the World Triathlon Grand Final on the London Olympics course.
Mika and dad, Chris Brown, have just returned from the 2013 Alanya ETU European Championships in Turkey, Mike finishing seventh in the U20 category and Chris 13th in the Male 50-53 sprint. Both Chris and Mika are members of Leeds Bradford Triathlon club.
