Weekend Sport: Eight-try Harrogate crush Waterloo

HARROGATE produced an eight-try demolition to beat bottom of the table Waterloo 48-12 at Claro Road on Saturday.

Mike Aspinall's men were 14-12 up at the break after tries from flanker Tim Heaton and prop Simon Davies, with Colts youngster Joe Rowntree converting from scrum half.

But Harrogate piled on the pressure after the restart, sending fly half Dickie Davies, no 8 Ryan Peacey (2), Rowntree and replacement hooker Ed Spackman across the whitewash.

There was also a try for Colts winger Noel Minikin, who got of the end of a fine move started in Harrogate's 22 to claim a score on his first team debut in National Two North.

In football, HARROGATE Town saw their Blue Square North game at Gloucester City called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Town were due to host City on Tuesday but the game - already rearranged after last December's snow and ice - was postponed due to snow.
