Weekend football: Town lose but Rail' celebrate win

HARROGATE Town remain bottom of the Blue Square North after a 3-0 defeat away at Stalybridge Celtic.

Simon Weaver's side were looking to bounce back from their poor 4-0 defeat at home to Bridge last Saturday.

However Jody Banim- who grabbed a brace at the CNG Stadium seven days previous- opened the scoring on 15 minutes.

The home side went 1-0 up into the break. They then added two more in the second period thanks to Conner Jennings' brace on 76 minutes and 83 minutes respectively.

At Station View however Phil Sharpe's side continue to surge up the UniBond First Division North after a 3-2 home victory over Trafford to extend their unbeaten streak to four games.

They'll be looking to make it five on Tuesday night when they travel to close rivals Ossett Albion (7.45pm ko).

In the West Yorkshire League KNARESBOROUGH TOWN suffered a blow to their title hopes after they were beaten 2-0 at home to Field. Rivals BOROUGHBRIDGE beat Ossett Common Rovers 4-0 to stay up close to current leaders Bardsey who beat Otley Town 2-1 away from home.
