Return of the big freeze affects sporting programme

A FROZEN pitch put paid to Harrogate Railway's game at home to Salford City on Saturday.

Railway were hoping for three UniBond Division One North points against their fellow strugglers but Friday night's plummeting temperatures meant that the game could not go ahead on Saturday afternoon.

Harrogate Town did manage to complete their Blue Square North fixture at home to AFC Telford, but the game ended in a 3-0 defeat for Simon Waver's troops.

Harrogate Rugby were also postponed away at Broadstreet in the Midlands on Saturday, before Sunday morning's blanket of snow meant the Claro League Football programme was affected.
