Harrogate Town into Blue Square North play-off zone
Harrogate Town moved into the Blue Square Bet North play-off zone after promotion rivals Gainsborough Trinity lost 3-1 to FC Chester.
Town’s 4-2 victory over Boston United on Tuesday night had lifted them up to sixth in the league with 46 points, level with a play-off place.
But Trinity’s two-goal defeat to top-of-the-table Chester saw their goal difference slip to 21, one below Town’s.
Simon Weaver’s side still have 17 games to go this season and are playing a fixture catch-up to every team in the league bar fellow promotion hunters FC Halifax.
Town have won seven of their last 10 league matches and they last lost at home in the league against Oxford City on September 15.
Goals from Tom Platt, Michael Woods, Dominic Knowles and Lee Elam overcame Boston on Tuesday, despite the former football league side pulling the game back to 2-2 early in the second half.
New signings Platt and Knowles also scored as Weaver’s side beat Gloucester 2-0 away on Saturday.
They host lowly Histon at the CNG Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off) before another match against a relegation threatened side, Colwyn Bay, on Tuesday (7.45 kick-off).
