Harrogate Polo Club has announced the capture of Jess Wray to the polo team.

Jess, who is from Ilkley, is currently captain of the University of Liverpool Polo Club and regularly takes part in the SUPA (Schools and Universities Polo Association) tournaments.

An accomplished dressage rider, she also competes for her university in this discipline.

“I’m very excited to be part of Harrogate Polo Club, after living in the area for the past 15 years,” said Jess.

“It’s wonderful that polo has finally come to Harrogate.”

“We are extremely pleased that Jess has joined Harrogate Polo Club,” said Alan Williams the club’s Chief Executive.

“Jess brings both experience and knowledge of student polo and we look forward to working with her to further Harrogate Polo Club.”

The club’s official home has been confirmed as Allerton Park, thanks to the support of Lord and Lady Mowbray.

Training is taking place at Ledston Hall.

At the moment, the club is using 2012 as a year for preparing teams for demonstration and friendly matches, and expects to be fully operational for tournaments in 2013.
