Harrogate clinch morale boosting win

JOHN Proud's Harrogate picked up a timely win over Rotherham in their bid to climb the ECB Yorkshire League table on Saturday.

'Gate's trip to South Yorkshire proved a fruitful one after making 208-8 thanks to Proud's 46 and James Tattersall's 35.

S Khan (4-31) and Hanif Mohammad (4-55) then skittled Rotherham for 172 to clinch the much needed win.

In the Aire Wharfe League, BECKWITHSHAW returned to winning ways in Division One after restricting Calverley to 163-9, new boy Stuart Hudson taking 3-39.

John Inglis (32), Simon Barker (35), Stu Carey (33) and Paul Thompson (36) all chipped in with the bat in response as 'Shaw pulled home on 166-4.

In Division Two BILTON easily beat Tong Park after making 200-5 thanks to Darren Blenkiron (90no) and Paul Cannings (74).

Carl Tietjens (4-32) continued his rich vein with the ball in response as Tong were skittled for 121.

FOLLIFOOT bounced back to winning ways at home to Colton. Mike Halmshaw (40), Chris Dawson (36) and a quick fire 79 by Paul Miller pushed 'Foot up to 228 at tea.

Colton struggled in the face of Peter Sweeney (4-40) in response as they held on for a point at 139-7.

KNARESBOROUGH were soundly beaten away at leaders Illingworth. After making 140 all out the home side pulled home by six wickets in response.
