Football: Town 1 Gateshead 2
HARROGATE Town were beaten 2-1 at home to visitors Gateshead on Tuesday night, as their pre-season continued.
Martin Foster shot Town into a first-half lead with a fine shot from inside the penalty area.
But Nathan Fisher levelled after half-time before Tyrell Burgess smashed in the winner with five minutes to go.
Town saw their grip on the game loosened through a string of second-half substitutions although Aidan Savory and Duncan Williams both missed gilt-edged chances.
But boss Simon Weaver was satisfied with the performance.
"No I'm (not disheartened), as we had made a lot of changes," Weaver told harrogatetown.com.
"I thought first half we looked organised and hard to beat.
"We had a good edge to ourselves and we were winning balls in both boxes and we looked a very good team.
"We're trying to groove everything now – what our principles are and the way we play.
"We're just trying to put things together gradually.
"(Tonight) against a full-time club, you couldn't tell the difference between the two leagues.
"But, second half we made a lot of changes and it affected the fluency of the game.
"The trialists did well though.
"I was disappointed with the late goal as it was a bit reminiscent of last season, but we looked more fresh faced".
