Blue Square North: Harrogate Town 0 Fleetwood Town 1

BLUE Square North leaders Fleetwood Town left the CNG Stadium as 1-0 winner on Saturday.

But in dismal conditions, the league's frontrunners were made to look fairly ordinary by Simon Weaver's Harrogate Town, and only a 70th minute goal could separate top from bottom.

Despite half an hour of monumental pressure from Fleetwood, Town held the title challengers to nil-nil at half-time with 'keeper Aaron Ratchford pulling off a string of tremendous point-blank saves from strikers Lee Thorpe and Adam Warlow.

Fleetwood again piled on the pressure after the break but Town held firm and came agonisingly close to going ahead in the 52nd minute when striker Lee Gregory's weak shot which rolled past an open goal.

But in the 70th minute Thorpe flicked on for sub' Garreth Seddon to blast the ball into the top left corner and Fleetwood had their lead.

Ten minutes later Seddon thought he had a second but his goal was quickly ruled out for offside.

Town had to chances to level, Craig James inches wide with a powerful free kick from 25 yards out and striker Roy Stamer going close, but Fleetwood held out to claim the win.

Town welcome Workington Town to the CNG on Tuesday night.
