Bilton beaten in Waddilove final

BILTON'S dreams of securing a fifth Waddilove Cup title were soundly crushed by Burley in Sunday's final.

Second Division outfit Burley swooped to a seventh Waddilove crown, and kept their hopes of a league and cup double alive as a result.

Bilton, missing star man Phil Timmens, were ripped apart by man of the match Jason Wright (3-22) and although Chris Dawson (25, Clyde Williams (33) and Simon Clemerson (21) staged a comeback, they found themselves all out for 162.

Wright (26) and David Brook (40) spearheaded the reply which saw Burley home for a six-wicket victory.

Elsewhere this weekend, HARROGATE marched to a fifth successive Yorkshire ECB League victory, beating Sheffield United on Saturday.

Vic Craven starred again to make an unbeaten 119 with Nick Lindley adding a cultured 84 as 'Gate amassed 243-3.

United were all out for 141 in reply, Ben Biker claiming 3-40.
