Tom Ketley from Harrogate’s St George’s Archery Club set a new UK record last weekend for the U-14s barebow 100-yard single clout round.
Shooting in the Eagle Bowmen Open GNAS Clout in Penrith, Tom scored 107 points breaking the existing record, which had stood since 2010, by two points.
Tom is unbeaten so far this season and in the six shoots to date has now set five new UK record scores.
He has also achieved both metric and imperial purple tassel awards which are the highest score-based awards in clout archery.
Tom took first place in the U-14s barebow category in the shoot and also claimed a Yorkshire record for his overall double round score.
Chris Hill continued his impressive form this year to take the silver medal.
St George’s also took a one-two in the ladies’ 140-yard barebow competition.
Carol Fairbrother maintained her 18-month unbeaten run to take gold, and Hazel Ketley won a close fought competition for second place.
Dennis Ketley set a personal best score to win bronze in the gents’ barebow class.
St George’s run beginners’ courses throughout the year.
