Conditions were ideal on Saturday for Harrogate Golf Club’s Stableford Multiplier Competition.

Almost 30 points separated the winning team led by captain, Jim Toms, from the runners-up.

Dennis Smith, who was in the winning team last week, again made some valuable contributions to make it two wins of two.

Father and son, Stephen and Scott Erskine, were in the team finishing runners-up, just 5 points ahead of the quartet in third place, led by Tony Knopp.

Result: 1. 232pts J Toms, P Manning, J Dobson & D Smith, 2. 203pts St. Erskine, Sc. Erskine, T Thomas, & P Skardon, 3. 198pts A Knopp, P Noble, A Green, & J Currie.

In the Ladies March Medal both the two divisional winners finished three shots clear of the field in their respective divisions.

In the Silver Jo Hearld’s 74 was the top score ahead of Ann Lancaster, who beat Jane Moorhouse on a count back.

In the Bronze Division Maggie Gobbi ran out the winner with a net 75, 3 shots ahead of Susie Lax, and five in front of Lindsay Bancroft.

On Sunday afternoon, in glorious sunshine, the 2012 Junior pre-season meeting took place. Junior co-ordinator Joe Traynor addressed a large gathering of junior golfers and their parents.

Plans for the season were discussed and this was followed by an excellent session on the rules of golf by the Club Captain Alastair Davidson.

This was followed with the Drive-In by the new Junior Captain Gareth Traynor.

Following this a fun 6 hole Texas Scramble took place with 36 Junior golfers and dads/mums taking part.

In third place were Nathan Seal, Richard Sharman and Zachary Anctil. Second were Joe Traynor, Jack Sheriff and Dan Anctil and pipping them to first place were the team of Ken Ward, Eric Eades and Daniel Dalton. Young Daniel suggested afterwards that his back was very sore from carrying his playing partners round!
