Harrogate Golf Club’s Joe Buckley stormed to victory in the Castle Trophy at Knaresborough Golf Club on Sunday.
The competition saw over 50 players from across the North of England taking part.
Heavy overnight rain meant the tournament was reduced to an 18 hole even.
And with the forecast equally grim at one stage looked unlikely to be completed with staff removing standing water aided by rollers.
With only a few groups left on the course, four players shared the lead on 75.
A playoff looked likely until Buckley carded an excellent round of level par 72.
None of the remaining players could match or better his score and so Buckley claimed his second title on the Yorkshire Order of Merit this season, after victory in the Cleveland Masters back in April.
In accepting the trophy from Knaresborough Captain Gee Fisher, Joe thanked the Club for hosting the event and for the hard work in ensuring the tournament got played.
He also paid tribute to the course, which despite the onslaught of rain, remained playable and in ‘awesome condition’.
With this win, Buckley gains 200 Order of Merit points and moves up to second place in the overall standings, just 60 points behind Malton and Norton’s Chris Halley.
