One week after dominating the triathlon at the Commonwealth Games, the Brownlee brothers are busy preparing for their next event - the Brownlee Tri at Harewood House on September 21.
The race is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and offers participants of all abilities the chance to take part in a triathlon alongside the athletes.
Not only is Harewood House close to where the Alistair and Jonny grew up in Bramhope, but it has been a training ground to them both for years. Speaking at Harewood, Jonny said they were excited to bring their race to the location.
He said: “This is a massive chance for us to make the triathlon a major sport.
“We wanted to create an event where lots of people can do it and everyone can do it. We can have different distances so it wasn’t too much of a challenge.
“Triathlons in the past have this image of being ridiculously hard.
“We’re trying to break that down and say anyone can do triathlon.
“We want to get new people into it and create a bit of excitement and getting it to nice places like here because this is a nice place to have a race.”
This is the second time the Brownlee brothers have held the event after last year’s inaugural Brownlee Tri at Fountains Abbey.
Jonny said: “It’s really nice to take that step back sometimes and just see people doing it for fun and to get fit and talk to them.
“It’s great to interact with them and share that part of it because it’s so different to what we do day in day out.”
