FOOTBALLING legend Alastair Hogg has announced his immediate retirement from sport after suffering a near fatal stroke three weeks ago.

Hogg, 46, had a long and distinguished career, winning two County Cup with Boroughbridge on the way to becoming an Aldborough Road hero.

The popular shotstopper also won trophies for Masham FC and was part of the Harrogate Vets side who won the Seniors World Cup in Thailand.
