MIDFIELDER Stephen Turnbull has been released from his contract at Harrogate Town so he can be reunited with his girlfriend in Australia.
He has been a popular player at Wetherby Road, and scored some impressive goals in his time at the club.
Speaking to Harrogate Town’s official website Simon Weaver said: “Stephen is a talented player and has been a great lad in the changing room, His goal against Eastwood Town will rank, I’m sure, with one of the best goals scored in recent years at Harrogate Town.
“He’s been a little down recently and that was because he was really missing his girlfriend. He is normally so bubbly and no-one wanted to see him unhappy so we felt we had no option but to help him out, release him from his contract and let him be re-united with his girlfriend.
“We will miss him, but also wish him well. Hopefully he will settle very quickly in his new life in Australia.”
Meantime, 16-year-old centre half Johnny Lynn has signed forms with Town after impressing for the U-19s.
Simon Weaver’s troops welcome Bradford Park Avenue to the CNG Stadium on Wednesday, in the West Riding County Cup.
