HARROGATE Town threw a spanner in the promotion works on Tuesday night, holding champions elect Alfreton Town to a 1-1 draw at the CNG Stadium.
Alfreton had hoped to toast promotion from the Blue Square North at the end of the match but will have to wait for another day.
They needed a win to confirm their rise to the Premier, and looked on course after Anthony Wilson’s opening goal on the 26th minute.
However Harrogate snatched a point in the 78th minute when Graeme Armstrong headed in a Steve Bowey cross.
It extends Town’s unbeaten run to ten games.
Meantime HARROGATE RAILWAY grabbed three much needed points by beating Woodley Sports 4-2 away in the Evo-Stik League First Division North.
Luke Durham (23), Steve Palfrey (52), Michael Duckworth (84) and a 90th minute Jon Maloney penalty secured the victory for Nigel Danby’s troops.
