HARROGATE Town emerged with a point from Saturday’s Blue Square North battle at home to FC Halifax Town.

The match, which saw Neil Aspin’s return to Wetherby Road after three seasons, ended in a nil-nil draw in front of a crowd of 1,107.

But new ‘keeper Zac Jones proved the hero for Harrogate when he saved a 77th minute penalty by Halifax skipper Tom Baker after Jake Picton pulled down the Shay captain just inside the box.

Paul Brayson had a good chance for Town in the 70th minute and late on was turned down for a penalty, but otherwise it was a game of few opportunities for either side.

Halifax applied some heavy late pressure through a series of corners by sub Kevin Holsgrove, but an immense performance from Town centre half Richard Pell meant the score stayed nil-nil.

Town travel to Vauxhall Motors on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
