HARROGATE Town stepped one point closer to Blue Square North safety on Tuesday night, drawing 1-1 at Droylsden.

Alex Meechan shot Town into a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute, but a tug in the box on Warren Peyton by Adam Nowakowski handed Droylsden a penalty four minutes later.

Dan Gardner stepped up to smash home for the hosts, but the scores remained that way until the final whistle.

Town remain 18th in the table, two points clear of the bottom three.

They visit top ten side Boston United on Saturday, before Easter Monday’s massive clash with fellow strugglers Blyth Spartans.

Tonight Wetherby Road plays host to BOROUGHBRIDGE v RIPON CITY for the Whitworth Cup final, kick-off 7.45pm.

Elsewhere TADCASTER ALBION host Arnold Town in the NCEL Premier tonight.
