HARROGATE Town ended their losing streak after five straight defeats on Tuesday, drawing 1-1 at home to Bishop’s Stortford.

Town were much improved after Saturday’s one-nil defeat away at Gloucester City, defender Jake Picton hitting the bar.

The scores remained level at half-time but striker Paul Brayson slammed in the opener two minutes into the second half.

Town’s Hertfordshire visitors refused to give up however, and in the 63rd minute claimed a share of the spoils with a goal from Dwight Gayle.

Boss Simon Weaver was happy to break the pattern.

“We’ve got the monkey off our backs,” he said.

“That’s a big step.”

Town welcome struggling Eastwood Town to the CNG Stadium on Saturday in Blue Square North (3pm).

Elsewhere, HARROGATE RAILWAY lost out 3-3 away at Farsley FC in the Evo Stik First Division North.

It capped a miserable week for the Station View men, who were beaten 2-0 at home to Bamber Bridge on Saturday.

Assistant boss Mick Norbury is hoping for a vast improvement away at rock-bottom Ossett Albion this weekend.

“We created two crosses at one shot at goal over 90 minutes,” he said.

“At this level it’s not enough, and you will get punished.”
