Harrogate Town have recalled striker Liam Hardy from his loan at Evo-Stik Northern Premier side Buxton.

Hardy scored seven goals in nine appearances for Buxton including braces against Kings Lynn Town and Ilkeston FC.

Buxton had extended the 26-year-old’s loan from Town until the end of the season last week, but boss Simon Weaver had a change of heart and brought him back to the CNG Stadium on Wednesday.

Town have several options up front with Sheffield United loanees Jahmal Smith and Joe Ironside and in-form strikers Ashley Worsfold and Chris Hall in prime form.

And Weaver is hoping former Armthorpe Welfare striker Hardy can recapture the red-hot form that saw him score seven times in Skrill North before joining Buxton in January.

Town’s manager said: “We’ve brought Liam back because of his threat in behind defences.

“He plays off the shoulder and I needed that in the squad, plus of course, he’s a man in form having scored seven in eight games.”

Hardy will be available for fifth-placed Town when they host lowly Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.
