Dan Clayton has left Harrogate Town for a third time and joined former side North Ferriby United.

Town had hoped the winger would stay at the CNG Stadium after originally agreeing an 18-month contract mid-way through last season’s Skrill North campaign.

However, Clayton has chosen to re-join the Hull side after rejecting the option of an extra year at Town.

Clayton moved back to the CNG Stadium from North Ferriby for a third spell at Town from on February 4 and made ten league starts before the end of the season.

Town boss Simon Weaver said: “We had an agreement for him to remain with us next season but he needed to come into the club to complete the paperwork.

“He decided in the end he didn’t want to take up the over and to move on.

“We wish him well.”

Former Town favourite Adam Bolder has also signed for the United, who finished as runners-up in Skrill North this season before losing the play-off final to Altrincham.

Meanwhile, a bid from a Football League club, whose name has yet to be revealed, has been made to star goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray.

The goalkeeper has attracted interest from several clubs over the past year and spent a day on trial at Bradford City in January.

However the Bantams rejected the chance to sign the youngster despite being impressed by the goalkeeper at the time.

Town have already prepared for the goalkeeper’s absence by signing Gainsborough Trinity stopper Phil Barnes.

Barnes will rival reserve ‘keeper Peter Crook for the number one shirt next season.
