Paul Vincent has stepped down as Ripon City manager after a historic season.

City finished their West Yorkshire Premier season on Saturday when Matt McGlinchey scored the only goal of the game at Rothwell.

The gritty victory left City fifth having won half their league matches this term.

But the gaffer’s reign in charge will be remembered for the League Cup triumph secured earlier this month, the first time the club picked up the trophy.

Vincent said he decided to stand aside due to growing work and family commitments.

He said: “It is with massive regret. I have really enjoyed working with the team we have.

“With work commitments and travelling away from home a lot more and I have a young family it is just more and more difficult.

“It will give me a little bit more time for myself.”

Read Thursday’s Ripon Gazette for more details of Vincent’s departure.
