Positive Miller unsurprised by Rail form

Harrogate Railway gaffer Billy Miller saluted his small squad for punching above their weight and wants their positive approach to stay.

Railway moved up to eighth in Evo-Stik First Division North after beating basement boys Ossett Albion 2-0 on Saturday.

Miller’s men then pushed FC Halifax Town all the way at Station View on Monday night (report page 84) before losing 1-0 to a late free-kick.

Railway head to Bamber Bridge on Saturday before welcoming Stocksbridge Park Steels in the League Cup on Tuesday.

Asked if their flying form had surprised him, Miller said: “No, Not really.

“If you look at the side, we look like a good team. The shape’s good and we have brought a couple of very good people in.

“The 15/16 in the squad are strong enough to maintain the fight. The difficulty will come if we start picking up injuries and suspensions.”

Miller is hoping to dual-register young Harrogate Town midfielder Alex Metcalfe to the squad for Saturday’s trip to Bamber.

On the trip, he added: “Their ambitions are to be up around the play-offs.

“We have to be positive and try and give a good account of ourselves.”
