Table topping Tadcaster Albion have stepped up their bid for promotion by signing Leeds United youth product Conor Qualter.
Qualter spent seven years with Leeds United before going on to play for Halifax Town under the current manager Neil Aspin. The centre-half, who turns 20 next week, has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under 19 level, and has also had spells with Northwich Victoria and Ossett Town. Qualter said: “This is a really exciting time to be signing for Tadcaster Albion. I contacted Matt (Gore) to ask if I could do some pre-season training with the club in the summer, but he offered me the chance to come and get started straightaway, which is great. “I’ve watched Tad quite a lot over the years. I often used to go down and watch them if I didn’t have a game. “They’re my local club, so I’m really happy to be here. I know there are only five games left, so I’m willing to help out wherever I’m needed. Then hopefully next season I will try and hit the ground running.” Qualter
i2i Sports Director Matthew Gore said: “Conor is a top quality player. I’ve known him since he was nine-years old “We’re delighted to have him on board here at Tadcaster. We’re all very excited to see how he can help us in our bid for promotion.” Conor’s older brother Ryan played for The Brewers for three seasons after coming through the ranks at York City, and now currently plays for Bradford Park Avenue. The Brewers, who are currently top of the NCEL Premier, are away to Bridlington Town this Saturday. Spaces are still available on the TAFC coach, which departs Tadcaster at 12.15pm and York at 12.30pm. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
