Kirk Deighton Rangers U-7s opened their 2013 14 season with a disappointing 3-2 away defeat at the hands of Ilkley.
KDR came from behind twice with a brace of goals from midfield maestro Edson Knapper. Edson went on to secure the Kirby Builders’ Merchants Man of the Match Award.
Goal-keeper Jack Chester had a superb game making several excellent saves to keep KDR in the match.
However, Ilkley stole all three points with an 85th minute winner.
Ripon City Panthers U-14s Girls followed up their winning start to the season with another win at home against Scotton Scorchers.
After going a goal down and seeing a penalty saved in the first half, the girls rallied together in the second period to win 3-1.
Goals came from Fiona Boulton, Demi-Lee Sloan Mason and Georgie Taylor, with Chloe Bethell providing two assists. Player of the day was Josie Cox.
This Saturday the girls are away at Stamford Bridge in York, kick off 10.30.
Wetherby U-13s nearly pulled off the perfect comeback on the Ings on Sunday, but ultimately drew with Otley Town 4-4.
They fell behind to an early corner and two quick-fire goals in the second half saw them 3-0 down.
However, the team galvanised and with goals from Danny (2) Ricky and Ben, raced into a 4-3 lead.
A fair result all round was secured in the last five minutes as Otley equalised.
Kirk Deighton Rangers U-12s opened their league campaign with 5-1 decent win away at Otley.
Joe O’Dwyer opened the scoring and Lucas Abusin snapped up two more and hit the sagging crossbar before the break.
Linking well with Dom Beech at left back, Johnny White proved a constant threat down the left, and scored KDR’s fourth goal with a solo effort. The home team pulled a goal back and then pressed for a second.
Abusin completed his hat trick near the end, with a well-taken effort, to seal a competent team effort.
Player of the Day was Aaron Morrell.
Pannal Sports U-15s claimed a 5-2 win over Kirk Deighton in their first game of the new season.
Sports were in control from the start, despite having three players missing, meaning we had a quick rotation of subs.
Man of the match George Mills opened the secoring before Sam Cowham netted the second.
Mills added two more goals before Kirk Deighton pulled one back.
George Gardner added the final goal, with Kirk Deighton collecting one more just before the whistle.
