There were no goals in a fairly even first half, Rail struggling to create much by the way of clear-cut chances, while at the other end the Mark Adams did manage to force Jake Lofthouse into one fine save and also rattled the home crossbar.

The second period was just two minutes old when the game’s opening goal arrived, Ash Young’s overhead kick being deflected past Lofthouse to put the away side ahead.

The lead was doubled in the 65th minute when Carl Grimshaw netted, and Adams headed home for 3-0 just 10 minutes later.

Brandon Deane grabbed a late consolation for Paul Beesley’s Locomotives when he lifted the ball over the advancing Charnock keeper, but that was as good as it got for the hosts.
